Nancy Conner receives Lt. Governor’s Golden Hoosier Award

Indianapolis—Nancy Conner of Columbus received the Golden Hoosier Award from Suzanne Crouch, Indiana Lieutenant Governor at a ceremony held on June 24 at the Glick Indiana History Center in Indianapolis. Conner was recognized for “a lifetime of community service and commitment to serving others.”

She was nominated for the award by Thrive Alliance, where she has served as a volunteer for many years. Her nomination stated “Nancy has been a selfless volunteer in the community for more than 10 years. She has completed more than five thousand hours of volunteer work for the community, (including) Thrive Alliance, Just Friends Adult Day Care, DSI, Orphan Grain Train, Autism Support Group, Pickleball Club, St. Peter’s Church and more.”

The Golden Hoosier Award is the highest honor bestowed upon senior citizens by the State of Indiana. It is awarded annually by the Lt. Governor’s office in association with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. Nominees for the award must be an Indiana resident, age 65 or older and have been a volunteer in the community for the past three years.
